NIMCET 2026: NIT Jamshedpur to Release Admit Cards on May 10; Check Important Instructions
To download the admit card, candidates must log in to the nimcet.in portal using their registered email ID and password. The hall ticket is a mandatory document for entry into the examination hall and contains vital information such as the candidate’s roll number, designated test center, and the specific time slot for the exam. NIT Jamshedpur has advised candidates to carefully verify all details on the admit card, including the spelling of their name and the photograph. In case of any discrepancies, students must contact the NIMCET helpdesk immediately via the provided email or helpline number before May 20.
The NIMCET 2026 will be conducted as a computer-based test (CBT) on June 4. The paper consists of 120 multiple-choice questions divided into four sections: Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning (40 questions), Computer Awareness (10 questions), and General English (20 questions). Mathematics carries the highest weightage, and experts suggest that performance in this section often determines the final rank. Each correct answer earns 4 marks, while each incorrect answer results in a 1-mark deduction. Therefore, accuracy is as crucial as speed during the two-hour duration of the test.
In a new update for 2026, the participating NITs have decided to include two additional institutes—NIT Patna and NIT Raipur—into the centralized counseling process, slightly increasing the total seat matrix. This is a significant development for MCA aspirants who previously had limited options within the NIT system. Furthermore, the eligibility criteria have been strictly enforced this year, requiring a minimum of 60% marks (or 6.5 CGPA) in B.Sc/B.Sc (Hons)/BCA/BIT or B.E/B.Tech from a recognized university.
As the exam date approaches, candidates are encouraged to take official mock tests provided on the NIMCET website to get a feel for the user interface of the CBT. 'The last month should be dedicated to revision and solving previous years' papers,' says Dr. S.N. Rao, a senior faculty member at NIT Jamshedpur. 'Students often neglect the Computer Awareness section, but those 10 questions can be high-scoring and time-saving.' After the exam, the results are expected to be declared by June 25, followed by the choice-filling process for counseling in July.
