The full form of IBPS PO is Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Probationary Officer. The IBPS is an autonomous body that provides standardized recruitment services to various financial institutions in India.

Over the years, the IBPS PO exam has evolved from a single-tier paper-based test to a sophisticated three-tier online assessment. The competition has intensified, with millions of applicants vying for a few thousand vacancies. The difficulty level of the Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning sections has notably increased, requiring candidates to have higher speed and accuracy.

To be eligible for IBPS PO 2026, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
• Age: Minimum 20 years and maximum 30 years (as of the date specified in the notification).
• Nationality: Citizen of India, or subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee.
• Relaxation: Age relaxation applies for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates as per government norms.

The application process is entirely online. Follow these steps:

2. Click on 'New Registration' and enter basic details.
3. Upload scanned documents: Photograph, Signature, Left Thumb Impression, and Hand-written declaration.
4. Fill in educational and preference details.
5. Pay the application fee via online modes (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI).

The exam covers several core subjects across its different stages:

• English Language: Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension.

• Induction Training at the bank's training center.

In the context of IBPS PO, 'counselling' refers to the Preference Filling and Allotment process. During application, candidates must rank the participating banks in order of their preference. Allotment is done based on merit-cum-preference and the number of vacancies available in each bank.
