NIMCET 2026: NIT Jamshedpur Opens Correction Window for MCA Entrance Applications
NIMCET is a national-level entrance exam for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme at participating National Institutes of Technology (NITs). This year, the exam is scheduled to be held on June 14, 2026. A high score in NIMCET is essential for securing a seat in top NITs like Trichy, Surathkal, and Warangal, which are known for their excellent placement records in the IT industry. The correction window is a crucial opportunity for students to avoid disqualification due to incorrect information.
According to the official notification, while most fields are editable, certain data points like the primary mobile number and email ID cannot be changed. If a candidate changes their category from a reserved one to General, they may be required to pay the balance application fee online. 'We noticed several requests regarding mismatched photographs and incorrect center preferences. This window is provided to ensure that no genuine candidate faces issues on the exam day,' said an official from the NIMCET coordination committee.
Preparation for NIMCET involves a strong focus on Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning (40 questions), Computer Awareness (10 questions), and General English (20 questions). The Mathematics section carries the highest weightage and is often the deciding factor for the merit list. Educators recommend that students use this period to take full-length mock tests and analyze their performance to identify weak areas.
After the correction window closes, the NTA will process the data and release the admit cards by the third week of May. Students are reminded that the NIMCET 2026 rank is valid only for the academic year 2026-27. With the IT sector seeing a resurgence in demand for skilled software professionals, the competition for MCA seats is expected to be tougher this year, with an estimated 1 lakh applicants vying for approximately 800 seats across 11 NITs.
