NIMCET 2026: NIT Jamshedpur Extends Application Correction Window; Exam on June 7
NIMCET is the gateway for admission into the MCA programs offered by nine participating NITs, including those at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli, and Warangal. The entrance exam is highly regarded for its rigorous testing of mathematical ability and logical reasoning. This year, the exam is scheduled to be held on June 7, 2026, in a computer-based format across 30 major cities in India. The results are expected to be declared by the end of June, followed by a centralized counseling process.
The exam pattern for NIMCET 2026 remains consistent with previous years. The question paper will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided into four sections: Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning (40 questions), Computer Awareness (10 questions), and General English (20 questions). Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks, while each incorrect answer will result in a negative marking of 1 mark. Given that the Mathematics section carries the highest weightage, experts advise candidates to focus on topics like Calculus, Vectors, and Probability.
NIT Jamshedpur has also clarified that no changes will be allowed in the primary mobile number and email ID used during registration. Candidates must log in using their credentials on the official NIMCET portal to access the 'Edit Application' link. After making the necessary changes, they must save and print the updated application form for future reference. The institute has also warned that any discrepancy between the application data and the original documents during physical reporting will lead to the immediate cancellation of the seat.
As the tech industry continues to evolve with a focus on cloud computing and software development, the demand for MCA graduates from NITs remains high. Last year, the average placement package for MCA graduates across top NITs was recorded at INR 12-15 lakhs per annum. Students are encouraged to utilize this correction window carefully, as this is the final opportunity to ensure their eligibility and center choices are correctly recorded before the admit cards are generated in May.
