The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially confirmed that the admit cards for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 will be available for download starting April 28, 2026. This announcement brings a sense of urgency and relief to over 25 lakh medical aspirants across India who have been preparing for the country's largest medical entrance examination. The exam is scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026, in a pen-and-paper mode across 500 cities in India and several centers abroad.

Candidates can download their hall tickets from the official NTA website by using their application number and date of birth. The NTA has emphasized that no admit cards will be sent by post. Each admit card will contain crucial details such as the candidate's name, roll number, exam center address, and specific reporting time. It is mandatory for students to carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid government ID and a passport-size photograph to the examination hall.

In a recent press release, the NTA Director General, Dr. Vineet Joshi, stated that the agency has increased the number of exam centers this year to ensure better social distancing and logistical convenience for students. 'We have taken extensive measures to ensure the integrity and security of the examination process. Candidates are advised to read the instructions on the admit card carefully, especially the dress code and the list of prohibited items,' Dr. Joshi added. The dress code remains strict, prohibiting heavy jewelry, long sleeves, and shoes with thick soles to prevent any form of malpractice.

The NEET UG 2026 exam will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions, out of which candidates must answer 180. The subjects covered are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Each correct answer earns four marks, while one mark is deducted for every incorrect response. Students are currently in the final stages of revision, focusing on high-weightage topics and solving previous years' question papers to build speed and accuracy.

Medical experts and educators suggest that students should focus on maintaining their mental and physical health during this final week. 'It is important not to start any new topics now. Instead, students should revise their own notes and focus on NCERT textbooks, which form the core of the NEET syllabus,' says Dr. Anjali Menon, a senior faculty member at a leading coaching institute in New Delhi. Students are also advised to visit their exam centers a day in advance if possible to avoid any last-minute confusion regarding the location.
