The National Testing Agency (NTA) is in the final stages of preparation for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026. As per the latest internal communications, the admit cards for the medical entrance exam are slated for release on April 25, 2026. This year, approximately 22 lakh students have registered for the exam, making it the largest competitive test in India. The exam will be held in a single shift from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM across 500 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. Candidates will be able to download their hall tickets using their application number and date of birth from the official NEET portal.

In a move to curb malpractice, the NTA has introduced enhanced biometric verification at all centers this year. Candidates will be required to undergo iris scanning in addition to fingerprint authentication. The agency has issued a strict advisory regarding the dress code, which remains largely unchanged from previous years. Students are instructed to wear light-colored clothes with half sleeves and avoid any large buttons or jewelry. Footwear should consist of slippers or sandals with low heels, as shoes are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.

Medical aspirants are currently in their final week of intensive revision. Experts suggest that students should focus on the NCERT textbooks for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, as the majority of questions are historically derived from these texts. Mock tests and previous year question papers should be the primary focus to build speed and accuracy. The NTA has also set up a 24/7 helpline to address any discrepancies found on the admit cards, such as errors in name spelling, photograph clarity, or exam center allocation.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has confirmed that the number of MBBS seats has increased by 5,000 this year, primarily through the opening of new government medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. This news has provided a boost to the morale of students who are competing for limited seats in prestigious institutions. The results for NEET UG 2026 are expected to be announced by the second week of June, followed by the MCC counseling process.

Candidates are also reminded to carry a valid ID proof and a passport-sized photograph to the exam center. The NTA has emphasized that no candidate will be allowed entry after 1:30 PM. Parents are advised to visit the exam center location a day in advance to avoid any last-minute logistical hurdles. As the pressure mounts, various educational platforms are offering free counseling sessions to help students manage exam-related anxiety and stress during these final days.
