The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has finally released the comprehensive schedule for the NEET UG 2026 All India Quota (AIQ) counselling today, June 29. This announcement brings much-needed clarity to over 21 lakh students who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) earlier this year. The counselling process will cover 15% of the seats in government medical and dental colleges across India, along with 100% seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities, and AIIMS/JIPMER institutions.

As per the schedule, the registration for the first round of counselling will begin on July 5, 2026, and will remain open until July 12. Candidates will have the opportunity to fill and lock their choices of colleges and courses between July 7 and July 12. The seat allotment result for the first round is scheduled to be published on July 15, 2026. Following the result, candidates will have a four-day window to report to their allotted colleges for document verification and final admission.

This year, the MCC has introduced a few changes to the counselling software to make the process more user-friendly and transparent. Candidates are required to upload several documents, including their NEET rank card, admit card, Class 10 and 12 certificates, and category-specific documents if applicable. The MCC has emphasized that the documents must be clear and authentic, as any discrepancy found during physical verification at the allotted college could lead to immediate disqualification and potential legal action.

"Students should prioritize their choices based on the previous year's closing ranks but also keep their options open given the increasing number of medical seats in new government colleges this year," said Dr. Amit Verma, a senior faculty member at a prominent medical coaching institute in Kota. He also advised students to check the bond conditions and fee structures of various state colleges and Deemed Universities before finalizing their list, as some private institutions have significantly higher costs.

Following the first round, the MCC will conduct three more rounds: Round 2, the Mop-up Round, and the Stray Vacancy Round. Candidates who do not secure a seat in the AIQ rounds can still participate in their respective state-level counselling, which usually begins shortly after the AIQ Round 1 results are out. The MCC has set up a dedicated 24/7 helpline and an extensive FAQ section on its website to address common concerns regarding the registration process, seat resignation rules, and security deposit refunds. Aspirants are urged to stay updated with the official portal for any last-minute changes to the schedule.
