The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the results for the Common University Entrance Test for Postgraduate programs (CUET PG) 2026 today, April 24. The examination, which was conducted in mid-March, serves as the single-window entry point for postgraduate admissions into over 190 participating universities, including central, state, and private institutions. Candidates can now download their scorecards from the official portal using their application ID and password.

According to the data released by the NTA, approximately 7.8 lakh candidates appeared for the exam across various disciplines ranging from Humanities and Sciences to Commerce and Specialized Professional courses. The results show a high level of competition in popular courses like M.A. Economics, M.Sc. Physics, and MBA. The NTA has provided normalized scores to ensure fairness, as the exams were conducted in multiple shifts over two weeks. No raw marks were used for the final ranking to account for varying difficulty levels across different paper sets.

Following the result declaration, major universities like the University of Delhi (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have announced that they will soon open their respective Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-PG) portals. Candidates who have qualified based on the CUET PG scores must register on these individual university portals to be considered for admission. Each university will have its own weightage system and criteria for specific programs. For instance, some courses at JNU may require additional viva-voce rounds.

'The transition to a centralized entrance test for PG courses has streamlined the process for students who previously had to appear for dozens of different exams,' said Prof. M. Jagadesh, a senior academic administrator. However, he also noted that students must be proactive in checking the eligibility requirements of each university they are interested in, as the NTA only provides the scores and does not handle the actual admission or counseling process.

Candidates are advised to keep their documents ready, including their CUET PG scorecard, undergraduate degree certificates, and category-related documents. The first round of allotment lists is expected to be released by the first week of June. For students who did not achieve their desired scores, several private universities participating in CUET PG will also be opening their application windows shortly, offering a wide range of alternative options.
