CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exam 2026 Admit Cards Issued; Exams to Start July 15
The supplementary exams are scheduled to commence on July 15, 2026, and will conclude by the end of the month. Schools have also been instructed to download and distribute the hall tickets to their respective students, ensuring they are duly signed by the principal and carry the school seal. It is mandatory for students to carry a hard copy of the admit card to the examination center, along with their original school identity card.
This year, CBSE has streamlined the process by allowing students to apply for improvement in up to two subjects for Class 10 and one subject for Class 12. This move is part of the board's effort to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes providing multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning without the stigma of failure. The results of the supplementary exams are expected to be declared by the third week of August, allowing successful students to participate in the ongoing college admission cycles for the 2026-27 academic year.
"The supplementary exam is not a setback but a second chance. We encourage students to approach it with a positive mindset and focus on the specific areas where they struggled during the main board exams in March," stated Mrs. Anjali Deshpande, a principal at a CBSE-affiliated school in Pune. She added that many schools are conducting special remedial classes and doubt-clearing sessions to help these students prepare effectively during the summer break.
The board has also issued strict guidelines regarding the conduct of the exams. Standard operating procedures regarding discipline and the use of unfair means will be strictly enforced, with flying squads monitoring centers across the country. The syllabus for the supplementary exams remains the same as the main Board Exams 2026, based on the rationalized content provided by NCERT. Students are advised to refer to the official sample papers and previous years' question banks for their final revision to ensure they are familiar with the marking scheme and question types.
