The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is in the final stages of the evaluation process for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations held in February and March 2026. According to sources within the board, the data uploading process for internal assessments and practical marks has already been completed by most affiliated schools. The theory paper evaluation is nearly 95% complete at various regional centers across India. If the current pace continues, the board is likely to announce the results between May 10 and May 15, 2026.

This year, CBSE has introduced a more comprehensive grading system that emphasizes competency-based questions, which accounted for nearly 50% of the total marks. This shift is intended to move away from traditional memorization and towards a more holistic understanding of the subjects. Over 35 lakh students appeared for the board exams this year. The board has also reiterated that it will not release a merit list or award divisions (First, Second, Third) to students to avoid 'unhealthy competition' and reduce academic stress.

Once the results are declared, students will be able to access their marksheets through multiple platforms, including the official CBSE website, the UMANG app, and DigiLocker. The DigiLocker accounts for all registered students were created well in advance, and the security pins have been shared with the respective schools. This digital-first approach ensures that students can use their digital marksheets for immediate college admissions while waiting for the physical copies to be dispatched to schools.

In addition to the main results, the board is also preparing for the 'Supplementary Examinations' (formerly known as Compartment Exams), which are expected to be held in July. This provides an opportunity for students who failed to clear one or two subjects to improve their scores without losing an academic year. The verification and re-evaluation window will also open within five days of the result declaration for those who wish to challenge their marks.

Education counselors suggest that parents should maintain a supportive environment at home during this waiting period. 'The results are just a milestone, not the end of the road,' says Dr. Sangeeta Rao, a child psychologist. 'With the introduction of CUET, the pressure on board percentages for college admissions has slightly eased, which is a positive development for student well-being.' The board is also operating a tele-counseling helpline to assist students with result-related anxiety.
