CBSE Class 10 and 12 Results 2026: Evaluation Nears Completion, Results Likely by Mid-May
This year, approximately 38 lakh students appeared for the CBSE board exams across India and 26 other countries. The evaluation process was conducted at over 3,500 designated centers, where thousands of teachers worked in shifts to ensure timely and accurate grading. The board has employed a double-check system this year to minimize errors in totalling and data entry, following several complaints in previous years. 'Our priority is to release error-free results that accurately reflect the students' performance,' a CBSE spokesperson mentioned during a press briefing.
Once the results are declared, students will be able to access their marksheets through multiple platforms, including the official CBSE website (cbseresults.nic.in), the DigiLocker app, and the UMANG platform. As per the board's policy, physical marksheets and migration certificates will be sent to schools a few weeks after the online announcement. Students are advised to keep their roll numbers, school numbers, and admit card IDs ready to check their scores as soon as the link goes live. The board will also continue its practice of not announcing a 'toppers list' to reduce competitive stress among students.
For students who may not be satisfied with their scores, the CBSE will open the window for marks verification and re-evaluation shortly after the results are announced. Additionally, the 'Compartment' or 'Supplementary' exams are expected to be held in July for students who failed to secure the minimum passing marks in one or two subjects. This allows students a second chance to clear their exams within the same academic year without losing a full year of study.
Schools and parents are encouraged to support students during this high-pressure period. Mental health experts suggest that the wait for results can be more stressful than the exams themselves. 'It is important for parents to remind their children that board marks are just one part of their academic journey and not the sole determinant of their future success,' says Dr. Vikram Malhotra, a child psychologist. The CBSE has also activated its tele-counseling helpline to provide emotional support to students and parents during the post-exam phase.
