The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) is a state-level regulatory body responsible for directing and supervising secondary and higher secondary education in the state of Gujarat, India. Established under the 'Gujarat Secondary Education Act 1972', the board is headquartered in Gandhinagar.

GSEB is primarily responsible for conducting two main examinations: the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) for Class 10 and the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) for Class 12. The GSEB was formed on May 1, 1960, following the bifurcation of the Bombay State into Gujarat and Maharashtra. Initially, it functioned under the Bombay Board's regulations until the Gujarat Secondary Education Act was passed in 1972. Over the decades, the board has evolved to include vocational education, teacher training, and a comprehensive curriculum designed to meet modern educational standards while preserving the regional linguistic heritage of Gujarat.

GSEB's jurisdiction is limited to the state of Gujarat. There are over 10,000 secondary and 7,000 higher secondary schools affiliated with the board. These include:

The board provides instruction in multiple languages including Gujarati, English, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, and Sindhi to cater to the diverse population of the state.

The GSEB Class 10 (SSC) examination covers key subjects such as Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, and languages (Gujarati/English/Hindi). The board follows a 100-mark system per subject, which includes external board exams and internal assessments.

The Class 12 (HSC) examinations are divided into two main streams: Science and General (Arts & Commerce).

The Science stream follows a semester-based or annual system depending on the current policy, while the General stream follows an annual examination pattern. Students must secure a minimum of 33% in each subject to pass.

The GSEB SSC and HSC examinations for the year 2026 are expected to be held in March 2026. Practical examinations for Science stream students usually take place in February 2026.

To be eligible for the GSEB SSC 2026 exams, a student must have completed Class 9 from a recognized school. For HSC 2026, the student must have passed the SSC examination. The registration process is typically handled by the respective schools through the GSEB online portal. Private candidates can also register through authorized centers by paying the prescribed fee.

Results are usually announced in May or June. To qualify, a student must obtain at least a Grade 'D' in all subjects. A minimum of 33% marks is required in both theory and practical components separately where applicable.

Results can be accessed via the official results portal by entering the 6-digit seat number and the series letter (e.g., B, C, G).

GSEB provides several financial aids and scholarships to meritorious and underprivileged students, including:
