The Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH), also known as the Haryana Board, is the premier government body responsible for managing school-level education in the state of Haryana, India. Established in 1969, the board is headquartered in Bhiwani and is tasked with conducting examinations, prescribing courses of study, and publishing textbooks for students.

BSEH conducts public examinations for Middle, Matric (Secondary), and Senior Secondary levels. It also conducts the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) and various vocational courses. More information can be found on the official BSEH website.

The Board was created in 1969 through Act No. 11 of the Haryana Government. Initially, the Board started functioning from Chandigarh with a staff of 100 officials. In 1981, the headquarters were shifted to Bhiwani to better serve the educational needs of the state.

• 1976: Started conducting Middle School examinations.
• 1987: Adopted the 10+2 education system and conducted the first Senior Secondary examination.
• 1994: Established the Haryana Open School to increase the reach of education.

BSEH has jurisdiction over all schools affiliated with it within the state of Haryana. This includes government-run schools, government-aided schools, and private schools. Thousands of schools are currently affiliated with the board, ensuring a standardized curriculum across the state.

While it primarily serves Haryana, the board's certifications are recognized nationally by other state boards and the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India.

The Class 10 (Secondary) exams are a critical milestone for students in Haryana. The board follows a comprehensive evaluation system.

• Exam Pattern: The assessment consists of theory papers (80 marks) and Internal Assessment (20 marks) for most subjects.

• Grading: Students are awarded grades based on their marks, ranging from A+ to E. A minimum of 33% is required in each subject to pass.

The Class 12 (Senior Secondary) exams are conducted for three main streams: Science, Commerce, and Arts.

For the academic year 2025-2026, the BSEH exams are expected to follow the traditional timeline:

• Practical Exams: Likely to be held in late January or early February 2026.
• Theory Exams: Expected to commence in the last week of February 2026 and conclude by late March 2026.
• Timetable: The official date sheet is usually released in December or January on the BSEH Date Sheet page.

Students must meet the following criteria to appear for the BSEH 2026 exams:

• Regular Students: Must have completed the required attendance in a school affiliated with BSEH.
• Open School Students: Must register through the Haryana Open School (HOS) portal.
• Registration: Schools typically handle the registration for regular students in October/November. Private candidates must apply directly via the official portal.
• Admit Cards: Hall tickets are issued 15-20 days before the exam and must be downloaded from the Admit Card section.

The results for the 2026 examinations are anticipated to be announced in May 2026. Students can check their scores on the Results Page by entering their Roll Number and Date of Birth.

Passing Criteria: A student must obtain a minimum of 33% marks in both theory and practical/internal assessment separately to be declared 'Pass'. Students failing in one or two subjects may appear for the compartmental examinations held in July.

BSEH and the Haryana Government offer several incentives to meritorious students:

• Dr. Ambedkar Sanshodhit Medhavi Chhattar Sanshodhit Yojna: Financial assistance for students from reserved categories based on board performance.
• National Talent Search Examination (NTSE): BSEH facilitates this scholarship for Class 10 students.
• Merit Certificates: Awarded to top-ranking students in Class 10 and 12 to assist in higher education admissions.
