NIMCET 2026: Second Round Seat Allotment Results Declared

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur, the organizing institute for NIMCET 2026, has officially declared the results for the second round of seat allotment. Candidates who participated in the counselling process for admission into the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programs at various NITs can now check their status on the official NIMCET portal. This round saw a significant shift in opening and closing ranks, particularly for the top-rated campuses like NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, and NIT Warangal.
Candidates who have been allotted a seat in this round are required to complete the online reporting process, which includes the payment of the seat acceptance fee and the uploading of necessary documents, by September 22, 2026. Failure to do so will result in the automatic cancellation of the allotted seat, and the candidate will be ineligible for subsequent rounds of counselling. The document verification process will be conducted virtually by the respective allotted institutes, and candidates are advised to be available on their registered email and mobile numbers for any queries from the verification officers.
According to the data released, the competition for MCA seats has intensified this year, with the closing rank for the General category at NIT Trichy ending at 42, compared to 48 last year. This trend indicates a growing preference for specialized computer application courses over traditional engineering streams among graduates. For those who did not secure a seat in this round, the third round of allotment is scheduled to be announced on September 28, 2026. Candidates also have the option to 'Float' their current allotment if they wish to be considered for a higher preference in the next round.
NIT Jamshedpur has also clarified the rules regarding the 'Withdrawal' process. Candidates who wish to exit the counselling process and seek a refund of their seat acceptance fee (minus processing charges) must do so before the commencement of the third round. Once a seat is accepted in the third or final round, no refunds will be entertained. The academic session for the 2026-27 batch is expected to begin in the second week of October, with orientation programs planned for the new entrants.
Students are reminded to keep their original certificates, including the NIMCET 2026 rank card, graduation mark sheets, and category certificates, ready for physical verification when they report to their respective colleges. The NIMCET office has set up a dedicated helpdesk to assist students with any technical issues during the online reporting phase.
