NIT Jamshedpur, the coordinating institute for the NIT Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) 2026, has officially opened the application correction window today, April 16. Candidates who have successfully submitted their applications but need to rectify errors in their forms can do so until April 18, 2026. This window is a one-time opportunity for students to ensure that their data matches their official documents before the admit cards are generated.

According to the official notification, candidates can edit specific fields such as their photograph, signature, and certain personal details. However, primary information like the registered email ID, mobile number, and the choice of exam city cannot be changed at this stage. Candidates are advised to log in to the NIMCET portal using their credentials and carefully review every section of the application. After making corrections, they must take a fresh printout of the updated application form for future reference.

The NIMCET 2026 exam is scheduled to be held on June 7, 2026, in an offline (OMR-based) mode across various cities in India. The test is a gateway for admission to the MCA programs offered by nine participating National Institutes of Technology (NITs), including Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli, and Warangal. This year, there has been a slight increase in the total number of seats, with approximately 850 seats available across these premier institutes.

The entrance test will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions covering Mathematics, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and General English. Mathematics carries the highest weightage, and experts suggest that candidates should focus on topics like Calculus, Vectors, and Probability. The marking scheme involves 4 marks for each correct answer and a deduction of 1 mark for each incorrect response. The competition for NIMCET remains intense, as it is considered the most prestigious entrance for MCA aspirants in India.

NIT Jamshedpur has also emphasized the importance of the document verification process that will occur during the counseling phase. Any discrepancy between the application form and the original documents (such as caste certificates or graduation marksheets) could lead to the immediate cancellation of the candidate's seat. Therefore, the current correction window is a critical step for all applicants.

The results for NIMCET 2026 are expected to be declared by the end of June, followed by a centralized online counseling process. During counseling, candidates will be required to lock their choices of NITs based on their ranks. The allotment will be done in multiple rounds, considering the rank, category, and availability of seats. Aspirants are encouraged to utilize the remaining weeks for rigorous practice and to stay updated with the official NIMCET website for any further announcements.
