NEET UG 2026: MCC Releases Round 2 Seat Allotment Results; Reporting Starts Tomorrow

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services has released the much-awaited seat allotment results for the second round of NEET UG 2026 counselling. This round saw a significant number of shifts in cut-off marks, particularly for the top-tier Government Medical Colleges (GMCs). According to the official notification, candidates who have been successfully allotted a seat must complete the physical reporting and document verification process between August 27 and August 31, 2026.
Dr. Ananya Deshmukh, a senior consultant with the MCC, highlighted that this year’s second round saw a higher retention rate compared to 2025. This is attributed to the new 'no-upgrade' policy after Round 3, which has encouraged students to secure their preferred choices earlier in the cycle. The portal now allows students to download their allotment letters, which are mandatory for the admission process. Candidates are also required to carry their original NEET UG 2026 admit cards, scorecards, and relevant caste or PwD certificates if applicable.
For those who did not receive an allotment in this round, the MCC has confirmed that the registration for the Mop-up Round (now referred to as Round 3) will commence in the first week of September. There are still approximately 4,500 MBBS and 1,200 BDS seats vacant across various quotas, including the All India Quota (AIQ) and Deemed Universities.
Educational consultants have advised students to be cautious during the 'Fresh Choice Filling' for the next round. 'Students should not only look at the previous year's closing ranks but also consider the newly added medical colleges in states like Uttar Pradesh and Telangana, which have added over 800 seats this academic year,' said a Delhi-based career counselor. The MCC has also warned against fraudulent calls promising seat 'management' and has urged parents to rely only on the official website for updates.
