JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Results Declared: NTA Announces Toppers and Cut-off for JEE Advanced
In addition to the scores, the NTA has declared the qualifying cut-off for the JEE Advanced 2026. For the General category, the cut-off percentile stands at 91.2, while the cut-offs for OBC-NCL, SC, and ST categories have been adjusted to 75.4, 52.1, and 38.9 respectively. This slight upward trend in the cut-off reflects the increasing competitiveness of the examination and the high level of preparation among the 2026 batch of aspirants. Educators suggest that the relatively balanced difficulty level of the April session papers contributed to these higher scores.
Candidates who have met the cut-off criteria are now eligible to register for the JEE Advanced 2026, which is scheduled to be conducted by IIT Kanpur on May 24, 2026. The registration portal for the Advanced exam is expected to open on April 22 and will remain active for a week. Students are advised to keep their JEE Main admit cards and scorecards ready for the verification process. The All India Ranks (AIR) have also been generated based on the best of two scores for students who appeared in both the January and April sessions.
Following the result announcement, several coaching hubs in Kota and Hyderabad reported high success rates. However, the NTA has emphasized the importance of student mental health, reminding candidates that the JEE Main is just one of many pathways to a successful career in engineering. For those who did not qualify, the agency pointed toward various state-level engineering entrance exams and private university admissions that remain open for the 2026-27 academic session.
Counseling for the 23 IITs, 31 NITs, and other GFTIs will be managed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The schedule for JoSAA 2026 is expected to be released in early June, immediately following the JEE Advanced results. Students are encouraged to research their preferred branches and institutions in the meantime to make informed choices during the choice-filling process. The NTA helpdesk remains open for any students facing technical glitches while downloading their rank cards.
