The registration process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 is reaching its final stage, with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi scheduled to close the application portal tomorrow, May 19, at 5:00 PM. As of this morning, official records indicate that over 1.9 lakh candidates who cleared the JEE Main cutoff have already completed their registration. This year, the organizing institute has emphasized that no extensions will be granted, urging students to ensure their documents, particularly category certificates and Class 12 mark sheets, are uploaded correctly before the deadline.

Candidates are reminded that the payment window will remain open until 8:00 PM tomorrow, but the registration form itself must be submitted earlier. The JEE Advanced 2026 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 24, in two mandatory shifts: Paper 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Paper 2 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Both papers are compulsory for any candidate seeking admission to the prestigious IITs. The exam will be conducted in a fully Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across 220 cities in India and three international centers.

According to Professor Rajesh Khanna, the organizing chairperson, the number of applicants has seen a 7% increase compared to 2025, reflecting the growing competitiveness for engineering seats in India. 'We have streamlined the portal to handle high traffic in these final hours, but we advise students not to wait until the last minute to avoid potential payment gateway delays,' Khanna stated. The eligibility criteria for 2026 remain consistent with previous years, requiring candidates to be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in JEE Main 2026 Paper 1.

Students should also be aware of the specific requirements for the 'Architecture Aptitude Test' (AAT) for those interested in B.Arch programs at IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT BHU. The registration for AAT will open only after the JEE Advanced results are declared in June. For now, the focus remains on the primary exam. Admit cards are expected to be available for download from May 21 onwards for all successfully registered candidates.

In terms of preparation, experts suggest that the final week should be dedicated to mock tests and revising high-weightage topics like Electromagnetism in Physics, Organic Chemistry mechanisms, and Calculus in Mathematics. Several coaching institutes have noted that the 2026 paper might see a higher integration of multi-correct choice questions, which requires a deeper conceptual understanding. Students are advised to carry a printed copy of their admit card and a valid photo ID to the examination center on May 24.
