The registration process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 is scheduled to commence on April 27, 2026. Following the recent declaration of the JEE Main Session 2 results, the top 2,50,000 qualified candidates are now eligible to apply for the prestigious entrance test for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). This year, IIT Kanpur is the organizing institute responsible for conducting the examination and managing the admission portal.

Eligible candidates must complete their registration on the official JEE Advanced website by May 4, 2026. The registration fee payment window will remain open until May 5. Applicants are required to upload several documents, including their Class 10 and 12 certificates, category certificates if applicable, and the JEE Main 2026 scorecard. It is imperative that candidates ensure the uploaded documents are clear and meet the specified file size requirements to avoid rejection of their applications.

The JEE Advanced 2026 examination is slated to take place on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The exam consists of two mandatory papers: Paper 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Paper 2 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Both papers will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The syllabus covers advanced topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, emphasizing the application of concepts rather than rote memorization. IIT Kanpur has indicated that the difficulty level will remain consistent with the high standards of previous years.

One of the key eligibility criteria for 2026 is the performance in the Class 12 board examinations. Candidates must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC, ST, and PwD categories) or be within the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. This rule, which was reinstated post-pandemic, continues to be a crucial factor for final seat allocation. Students are advised to keep their board marksheets ready for the JoSAA counseling process that follows the exam.

To assist aspirants, IIT Kanpur has released mock tests on the official website. These tests are designed to familiarize students with the CBT interface and the variety of question types, such as multiple-choice, numerical value, and matching-list questions. Education experts suggest that candidates should now shift their focus from horizontal learning to vertical depth in core topics. Solving previous years' papers from 2016 to 2025 is highly recommended to understand the evolving trends of the examination.

The results for JEE Advanced 2026 are expected to be announced on June 14, 2026, followed by the release of the final answer keys. Immediately after the results, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will begin the counseling rounds for 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Aspirants are encouraged to stay updated with the official portal for any notifications regarding changes in the schedule or exam day guidelines.
