JEE Advanced 2026: IIT Delhi Opens Registration Portal for Engineering Aspirants

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, the conducting body for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026, has officially launched the registration portal for candidates seeking admission to the prestigious IITs. Following the declaration of the JEE Main Session 2 results earlier this week, the top 2,50,000 qualifiers are now eligible to take the final step toward securing a seat in one of the 23 IITs across the country. The registration window will remain open until April 25, 2026, with the fee payment facility available until the following day.
Candidates must ensure they meet the specific eligibility criteria, which include age limits, the number of attempts, and performance in Class 12 board examinations. This year, the organizing committee has introduced a more streamlined document verification process using an AI-integrated portal to reduce manual errors and speed up the application flow. Aspirants are required to upload their category certificates, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, and a valid identity proof during the registration process. The application fee remains unchanged from the previous year for most categories, though international applicants will see a slight adjustment due to currency fluctuations.
The JEE Advanced 2026 exam is scheduled to be held on May 24, 2026. The examination will consist of two mandatory papers—Paper 1 and Paper 2—both of which will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Each paper will be of three hours' duration. The exam pattern is known for its unpredictability, often featuring a mix of multiple-choice questions, numerical value questions, and matching-list questions designed to test the deep analytical and problem-solving skills of the students.
In a statement released this morning, the Chairperson of the JEE Advanced Organizing Committee emphasized the importance of reading the Information Brochure thoroughly. 'We have observed that many candidates face issues during the counseling phase because of incorrect data entry during registration. We urge students to verify every detail, especially their category and PwD status, as these cannot be changed once the final submission is made,' the official stated. The committee has also set up helpdesks across all seven zonal IITs to assist students with technical glitches.
Looking ahead, the admit cards for the examination are expected to be released on May 17, 2026. Following the exam, the provisional answer keys will be displayed on the official website for public challenge, leading up to the final results in mid-June. Successful candidates will then participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process, which coordinates admissions for IITs, NITs, and IIITs. Students are advised to keep their registered mobile numbers and email addresses active for all future correspondence regarding the entrance test.
