The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati, the latest addition to the prestigious IIM family, has officially announced the launch of its specialized Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Digital Transformation for the academic session 2026-2028. This program is designed to address the growing demand for leaders who can navigate the complexities of the digital economy and implement technological shifts within traditional business frameworks. The first batch is expected to commence in July 2026.

Admission to this program will be highly competitive. The institute has stated that it will use the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 scores as the primary shortlisting criterion. Candidates who have met the minimum sectional and overall percentiles will be invited for a Writing Ability Test (WAT) and a Personal Interview (PI) during the months of April and May. The final selection will be based on a composite score that includes CAT performance, academic consistency (Class 10, 12, and Graduation), work experience, and performance in the interview rounds.

Director of IIM Guwahati, Dr. Arindam Das, emphasized the unique curriculum of the program. 'Unlike traditional MBA programs, our Digital Transformation track integrates modules on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Data Analytics with core management subjects. We want our students to be bilingual in both business and technology,' he said during the press briefing. The institute has already signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several tech giants and consulting firms to provide internship opportunities and live projects to the inaugural batch.

The campus, located on the banks of the Brahmaputra, is equipped with state-of-the-art digital labs and a high-tech library. For the 2026 session, the institute has reserved 60 seats for this program, with plans to expand in the coming years. The fee structure has been set at INR 18.5 lakhs for the two-year residential course, which includes tuition, hostel, and digital resources. Several nationalized banks have already tied up with the institute to provide easy education loans to prospective students.

Prospective candidates are advised to update their profiles on the IIM Guwahati admission portal by April 20, 2026. The institute also offers a 'Diversity Multiplier' in its selection process, encouraging students from non-engineering backgrounds and female candidates to apply. With the rise of the digital sector in India, this program is expected to see a high placement interest from sectors like Fintech, E-commerce, and EdTech. Detailed brochures and FAQs are available on the institute’s website for interested applicants.
